About Me

Currently I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Boise State University where my research centers around non-market valuation and land use. My work consists of interdisciplinary collaborations and I work with other researchers in Human Environment Systems and the Hazards and Climate Resilience Institute at Boise State.
Having grown up in the foothills of the Virginia Blue Ridge I have always had a deep appreciation for nature, outdoor recreation and environmental amenities. During high school I spent a lot of time hiking trails in and around Shenandoah National Park.Boise is great for its outdoor amenities and I spend a lot of time mountain biking in the foothills, skiing, enjoying the Boise river and getting outside whenever possible with my family. If I’m not on my bike or skis you may find me occasionally playing music around town.
If you need advice on biking or skiing in and around Idaho’s Treasure Valley don’t hesitate to reach out.
With access to Bogus Basin ski area and over 150 miles of mountain bike trails adjacent to the City of Boise there are countless opportunities to research the costs and benefits of land use change, how land use policy affects recreation demand and the value of ecosystem services and outdoor recreation.
My students find these topics important and engaging and I enjoy exploring related research areas with them. Idaho has abundant natural resources and opportunities for exploration, a perfect fit for my personal and professional interests!
